Swiss Chard with Lemon and Garlic
A simple preparation that highlights the earthy flavor of Swiss chard.
Ingredients
- 1 large bunch Swiss chard, stems and leaves separated and chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 stalks green garlic, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chard stems and green garlic, and sauté for 3-4 minutes until beginning to soften.
- Add chard leaves and cook, stirring occasionally, until wilted, about 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Serve immediately as a side dish.
